Visitor Information

The museum is open to the public on Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm and on the first Sunday of each month from 9 am to 4 pm.

Traveling groups and clubs are welcome during visiting hours.

The Motor Transport Museum is located 50 miles east of downtown San Diego, 50 miles west of El Centro, and 2 miles north of the US / Mexico international border. The driving time from San Diego to Campo is about one hour.  You can travel on Interstate 8 to Buckman Springs Road or take the scenic CA Highway 94 route to reach the museum.

 

 

 

 

Private Visits and Group Events

We are also available on weekdays for private events, parties, weddings, school group visits, and club tours. Based on availability, the museum takes appointments for weekday visits at least two weeks in advance.

Photo Shoots

We are also available for private photo shoots when the museum is closed to the public. Arrangements can be made for after-hours, weekdays, and night photography beginning one hour before sunset up until 1:00 am in the morning.

We can accommodate groups of up to 25 people. Please contact us at least three weeks in advance to schedule your private photo shoot.

Visitor Policies
Our vehicles and artifacts are fragile historic antiques that could suffer irreversible damage if not cared for properly. We ask that our guests follow these policies while visiting the museum.

  • Opening vehicle doors, hoods, trunks, or windows is not allowed without the permission and supervision of museum staff.
  • Standing, sitting, crawling in or on vehicles or displays is not allowed without the permission and supervision of museum staff.
  • Children must be kept under adult supervision at all times. Running and horseplay are not allowed on the grounds.
  • Our museum is not a playground. Children need to treat all our collections and displays respectfully.
  • Please help us keep our museum clean by placing all trash and recyclables in properly labeled refuse containers.
  • Pets must be kept on leash at all times while on museum grounds. Please pick up after your pet.
  • Smoking is not allowed on museum grounds.
